THE ATELIER SPRING 2011  DEADLINE EXTENSION

Miami University Center for Community Engagement in Over-the-Rhine
CR architecture + design

Are you interested in taking your studio experience well beyond schematic design?

What about living and working in a vibrant urban neighborhood that will appreciate your energy and ideas?

Looking for work experience in an architecture firm to develop skills, portfolio, and contacts?

This spring semester, several students will live in Over-the-Rhine and work in the Cincinnati offices of CR Architecture + Design.  This innovative program has been dubbed the “atelier” to signify a direct collaboration between experienced professionals and ambitious rookies.

These select students will work with directly with Miami University Center for Community Engagement Coordinator of Community Projects John Blake and Graham Kalbli of CR to develop a “real” project for a community-based, non-profit client. The collaboration is not the typical co-
op.  Atelier participants are always working directly with experienced professionals.  They receive either academic studio credit or NCARB Intern Development Program (IDP) hours, and manage the project directly.  All meetings with consultants, owner’s representatives, city and state
officials are initiated and facilitated by participants, with oversight by CR’s experienced staff.  Check out this link, it leads to our blog and Facebook pages:
