What is Happening Wednesday Nov. 17th?

AIAS Potluck this WEDNESDAY at 11:30-1pm.  If you bring food it only costs $2 and if you just want to just eat the amazing food it is only $5.  It is cheaper then getting food uptown or at Belltower. It might even challenge your mother's thanksgiving dinner!

All-member meeting this Wednesday @ 5pm in Room 1!
We are also hosting a Presentation Workshop during the meeting! A few grad students have volunteered to show off their stuff, including their design for the Schools of Tomorrow Competition, and give advice and techniques for presenting :)

We also have some very exciting news about Spring Trip to Boston!
So SHOW UP and find out!

Hello everyone,
For those of you still interested in participating in Freedom by Design, you're in luck because we have at least two events left for this semester! This coming Tuesday, Utawna Leap (the woman who we have been working on the grade level reducers for) will be coming in to speak with Ben Jacks' Design and Human Behavior class. He has graciously invited anyone else who is interested to attend. Utawna is always an inspiring person to listen to and provides a real perspective of someone who is the caregiver for a wheelchair bound person. It is definitely an eye-opening  learning experience and it will change the way you use ADA regulations in your designs.
The class is in room 200 from 11:15-12:30.
Please RSVP to dickerm2@muohio.edu asap if you plan on going so Ben can plan accordingly for chairs.

Thanks!
Mary

Freedom By Design Charette!

Are you looking for a community service opportunity that allows you to use your hard-earned design skills?

Then come THIS WEDNESDAY, 6 PM to the Freedom By Design charette.  We'll meet in the atrium and probably end up heading down to the shop, or someone else where we can GET MESSY!

This week's project is to fabricate some prototypes of grade-level reducers, which will help Lianna navigate doorways in her wheelchair.  We'll be testing out a silicone coating, so if you're interested in new materials, ADA accessibility, or community service - come check it out!
